Merriest of Christmases to all!

Hey I'm not sure if this is allowed, in which case you can delete this entry, but it's Christmas-related so I figured it was worth a shot.

I'm a college freshman and I need input for my final paper in Anthropology, which is a study of Christmas and family traditions. I've got some survey questions, if anyone would like to answer them that would be incredible!!!

So basically I'm looking at people's ideas about Christmas traditions, their own, other people's, widely accepted ways of celebrating vs your own unique ways, etc. Just let me know what you think, and maybe give me a brief explanation whenever possible. You can pick and choose if you don't want to answer all of them.

1) What is your favorite holiday tradition? (If you were to complete the sentence "Christmas would not be the same without .... because .... ")

2) What does your family do every year that has become a part of your personal Christmas experience? This could be good, bad, stupid, funny, whatever.

3) Give an example of a time when something about your Christmas was drastically different. Was the change good or bad?

4) Which widely accepted / mainstream Christmas traditions do you appreciate the most, & why? (Which of these traditions do you follow)

5) Which mainstream traditions bother you the most & why? (Aspects of the general idea of Christmas that you reject)

6) If you're currently living away from home, how does being away affect your views about the holidays? How have your ways of celebrating changed to fit your new lifestyle? (Do you try to do things that seem more like home, have you found new ways to celebrate, do you even notice...)

And now, just because it's fun, let's rank the following things on a scale of 1-10. (10 being essential to your Christmas experience or things you love about the season, 5 being neutral, and 1 being spawn-of-satan, don't you dare ruin my Christmas with that!)

a. Holiday shopping (i.e., day after Thanksgiving sales)
b. Christmas trees / lights / decorating
c. Holiday music
d. Gift-giving (obligation vs choice, who you give them to, whatever this entails for you)
e. Santa Claus
f. Holiday movies & TV specials
g. Jesus, church, religious aspects
h. food (baking, specific foods that you must have, etc)
i. Christmas spirit / season of giving / holiday attitude
